After completing his dermatology residency at Ichilov Hospital in Israel, Dr. Metzger pursued an elite ACGME-accredited fellowship in Mohs surgery and facial reconstruction at the Vermont Medical Center. There he trained under Prof. Glenn Goldman, a leader in the field of Mohs surgery and aesthetic facial-skin reconstruction.

Before and After
Mohs surgery is a highly effective and precise method for treating skin cancer, designed to remove as little healthy tissue as possible. It offers high success rates and excellent cosmetic results, with minimal scarring. During the procedure, cancerous tissue is removed layer by layer, and examined under a microscope in real-time. מהו ניתוח בשיטת MOHS?
ניתוח MOHS הינו שיטה יעילה, חסכונית ומדויקת להסרת גידולי סרטן עוריים. העיקרון בניתוח MOHS הוא שהכריתה של הרקמה הסרטנית מתבצעת תוך בדיקה מלאה של 100% משולי הגידול במהלך הניתוח. באופן זה ניתן להיות רגועים שכל הרקמה הסרטנית הוסרה, גם הרכיב שאינו נראה לעין.
האם תישאר לי צלקת לאחר כריתת הנגע הסרטני?
כן.
כל כריתה של נגע מותירה צלקת. בשיטת MOHS ניתן למזער את אורך הצלקת ביחס לשיטות הסרה אחרות.
לרוב מתקבלת צלקת עדינה שאינה פוגמת בסימטריה או בארכיטקטורה של מבנה הפנים, וכזו שבמרחק שיחה אינה ניכרת לעין המתבונן. ממליץ לצפות בגלריית התמונות – שם ניתן להתרשם מהריפוי של אזור הניתוח לאחר תקופת ההחלמה.
האם הצלקת תשתפר עם הזמן?
בהחלט. הצלקת תלך ותשתפר. עם הזמן הנפיחות תרד, האדמומיות תפחת. צפויה להיות מעט גבשושיות של העור שעם הזמן תלך ותשתטח. לרוב העור עם הזמן יהיה חלק.

ניתוח בשיטת מוהס מיועד לכריתת סרטני עור הנמצאים באיזורי עור בהם יש חשיבות לשימור רקמה ככל שניתן. לרוב, הגידולים שיוסרו בשיטת מוהס נמצאים בצוואר, פנים, קרקפת, אוזניים, קדמת השוקיים, כפות ידיים ורגליים או איברי מין. כמו כן השיטה מיועדת לטיפול בגידולים שחזרו לאחר הסרה קודמת, לגידולים בסיכון גבוה לחזרה, או לגידולים הממוקמים באזורים בעלי חשיבות קוסמטית, בהם חשוב לשמר כמה שיותר רקמה בריאה.
